Ateliês do Rio
Editorial
Ateliês do Rio invites readers into ten spaces to observe each artist’s creative process and how each one organizes routine, repetition, memory, imaginative thought, experimentation, inspiration, abysses, and practical needs. In photographs by Vicente de Mello and interviews by João Vergara, the studios of Adriana Varejão, Anna Bella Geiger, Barrão, Beatriz Milhazes, Carlos Vergara, Denilson Baniwa, Marcela Cantuária, Maria Nepomuceno, Maxwell Alexandre, and Waltercio Caldas appear as singular extensions of their practices. We developed the publication’s editorial design from this very understanding: a book that absorbs the symbiosis between artist and space, where tools, chaos, works in progress, walls, tables, and silences reveal that a studio is, above all, a living archive and a way of being in the world. For that very reason, it is always expected to remain in motion—between order and disorder, comings and goings.
Planetary Embassy imagines a form of diplomacy between humans, nature, and other living forces. In Belém, New York, Tokyo, and other territories, art, science, technology, and Indigenous knowledge came together in a space for listening, guided by patterns generated from natural sounds.
Bauh is an original furniture studio that creates pieces from reclaimed wood. Produced in limited editions, its furniture is defined by close attention to materials and detail. We developed its visual identity, creating a sober, contemporary graphic system that supports the brand’s communication without competing with the material’s singular character.
Simplexidade helps organizations operate in complex contexts without confusing complexity with complication. We applied this approach to the visual identity through graphics that explore the organic–digital duality and build on the idea of the power of relationships when integrated.
At Mirá, ancestral Japanese techniques, natural fermentation, and Brazilian ingredients turn bread into a territory of research and memory. It is an independent bakery built between tradition, discovery, time, and care.
